Announcing the Better Science through Better Data 2019 Writing Competition
Springer Nature and The Wellcome Trust are partnering again to host Better Science through Better Data and we are looking for three budding science writers to help with news coverage of this year’s event on November 6th 2019.
About you - You will be an unpublished writer*, currently enrolled as a student/post doc from anywhere across the globe. You will need to be available to travel to London, United Kingdom on Wednesday 6th November 2019.
The competition – write a 500-word piece on one of the following topics:
- How do you implement FAIR data (findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability) in practice?
- What are the benefits and risks of unrestricted data reuse?
- What support do researchers need to implement reproducible research?
- How should researchers be rewarded for data sharing and reproducible research?
Deadline: extended to 8 September 2019
The prizes – the three winners will be invited to this year’s event in London, where they will:
- Work with a Nature editor for the day as a reporter
- Have your winning piece and report from the day published on Springer Nature’s Research Data Community
- Receive up to €200 towards your travel expenses
- One-year free subscription to a Nature magazine of their choice
Winners will be announced in September 2019.
